I’m fed up with the wind and rain but I have been out today as it’s calm although damp and foggy. The fog made it difficult to see but I did see a pair of red grouse and a snipe and a pair of ducks on the pond. I passed the warden who was in the cleugh. He showed me where the heather is starting to come back. Earlier on in the year he planted thousands of new heather plants on the reserve near the bird hide so we are keeping our fingers crossed that the majority of them will take. We know we will probably lose some. The lapwing are starting to settle and the curlew are back. I am hoping anyone reading this who has dogs will keep them on leads. Not all birds nest in trees.
