Today it is sunny and cloudy with a cool wind. The warden was up on the top of the reserve and he has seen a flock of fifty plus golden plover, a wonderful sight. Also four greyhen, two lots of three red grouse, and a hare. Six partridge flew out of the cleugh. I think the birds will be starting to pair up now, getting ready for nesting time. We are still feeding birds outside the house but because of the mild weather there are fewer coming for food. We have had five hen pheasants and four cocks and also on the odd day Black Jack is here to cause chaos. Black Jack is the black grouse who turns up now and then.
