The morning started out cold with heavy thick fog. By lunchtime the fog had lifted and the sun came out, a beautiful spring day. I have walked across to the pond which is still covered in thin ice. Two ducks have flown up out of the reeds. The ground is very boggy but you can see new grass coming through. I didn’t think we had much rain last night but the water coming off the reserve is gushing down the waterways. Walking through the cleugh two partridge flew up. We don’t want birds nesting too early because if we get severe weather the eggs will perish.
